Made from silica sand and ground quartz fused at extremely high temperature and pressure. This creates these pieces into optical glass and the pieces come out of the oven in these shapes. The material is then melted down to be made into giant lenses for telescopes on observatories.
I think they are amazing sculptural pieces that can be combined in different configurations.
