The Frailero chair was the first furniture style that arrived in the New World during the Spanish Conquest. It had originated as a collapsible military invention that was used by the conquistadores.

This particular version is not collapsible and was the most common variation produced of the Frailero style in the Americas.  The production of this style went well into the early 20th century.
